Latino Medical Student Association

LMSA is an organization that was initially developed with the mission to unite and empower medical students through service, mentorship and education to advocate for the health of the Latino community. Throughout the years these objectives have been created: 

• To unify all Latino medical students into one organization
• To provide a voice for underrepresented medical students
• To actively promote recruitment and retention of Latino students at all levels
• To educate medical students on Latino health issues
• To advocate for the rights of Latinos in health care
• To provide leadership opportunities for Latinos
• To promote volunteerism in the Latino community

Even though this organization was originally started to empower the latino community, we welcome any medical student that would like to join. We offer opportunities to network with other medical professionals and students throughout the nation. There are many opportunities to strengthen yourself as a candidate for residency via leadership positions, opportunities to present research in conferences, and strengthen your medical Spanish to better communicate with patients, among others.
